I don't necessarily have a verse that this corresponds with, however recently this thought has become a theme of mine. So many times in my every day life I see people focusing on the negative aspects of their lives. They focus on the problem and don't look for a solution. Even more, they don't focus on what they do have or what blessings there may be. Even if it is as simple as, I can walk, or I have a bed to sleep in.
It is so easy to point out what is wrong, but hard to fix it. Harder yet is trying to "find the positive" and improve the positive. We complain about mother-in-laws or step family or having to spend time with a person we don't appreciate, but we don't think about any positives of how we could benefit that person's life or what we may mean to that person. Furthermore regardless if they are a person mentioned above, your wife, or a close friend. We do not take time to tell them how much they mean to us or how much we love them, or how amazing we think they are.
I have challenged people on facebook and twitter numerous times to take some time and tell 1 to 5 people what they have done in your life or how much they mean to you. It is a form of pay it forward I guess. I just feel like we sometimes need woken up or reminded that we are so blessed. Who cares about this world anyway? Craig Groeschel - pastor of LifeChurch.tv - said recently in a sermon that the sooner you lose yourself, the sooner you can find God! Care about the important stuff - JESUS CHRIST.
So if you see someone this week or in the future, and they are focusing on the negatives then help them #findthepositive. Challenge yourself to not focus on the negative and instead bring the light of Christ to as many situations as you see fit! There is a blessing in everything, but as Rafiki from Lion King says sometimes you just have to "look harder". After all many times the reason we are stressing about the past is because we have forgotten our FATHER.
"Walk around Zion! Encircle it! Count its towers! Consider its defenses! Walk through its fortresses, so you can tell the next generation about it! For God, our God, is our defender forever! He guides us!" -Psalm 48:12-14 - Youversion.com
